The Email Marketing of Today
Email marketing has been around for a while now, but don’t let its old (internet) age fool you. Your email list is more vital than ever in creating and maintaining a relationship with your followers. Let’s take a look at how email marketing is evolving and why you absolutely need an email list of your own!
Your Own Email List Is A MUST Have!
Emails Drive Consumer Traffic to Websites
This brings us to the next benefit of email marketing: increases in website traffic. Email marketing eliminates the gap between seeing an advertisement and responding to the advertisement by visiting a company website. If you place your website address on a billboard or television ad, the consumer will need to remember that web address when he or she is browsing the internet in the future. With email marketing, however, you can link key phrases within your email directly to your website. You’ll see a dramatic increase in web traffic simply because consumers can access your website directly from the email.
Email Marketing is Super Cheap
Let’s not forget one of the most attractive attributes of email marketing: the overall cost. Email marketing is one of the least expensive marketing and campaigning formats available to businesses today. It takes very little time, effort, or resources to craft an email and send it to a group of customers. While developing an email lead list does require time and energy, this email list can be used over and over again.
Email Marketing Creates Results
Email marketing is beneficial today because it creates results. Unlike other campaigns which are designed to communicate ideas and develop a brand concept, email encourages consumers to take action. Emails can invite consumer responses, increase web traffic, entice consumers to make purchases, and encourage consumers to forward important messages.
Email Marketing Allows You to Measure Results
Email marketing is also one of the easiest campaigns to measure and evaluate. The effectiveness of an email marketing campaign can be measured by using any number of web tools or data processing software. You can quickly see which email links were followed, which emails were shared and forwarded, and which email campaigns resulted in increased sales.

Your Email List Becomes More Effective Every Day
When you build a relationship with your email list, your connection with them only grows over time! The more they come to know you and like you, the more they’ll want to support your business. And in an increasingly mobile environment, email is even more effective. Here are just a few of the ways email is better now than it was 10 years ago!
Email is an easy way to reach mobile customers
One reason email marketing has value for business owners is that it’s an easy way to start reaching consumers on mobile without investing a lot in new technology or software. According to an April report from Pew Research Center, 52 percent of US cellphone owners access their emails from their phones. Email marketing also works with other mobile devices. In July, Forrester Research released a study that found 42 percent of retailers’ email messages were opened by consumers on their smartphones and 17 percent were opened on tablets. This means that nearly three out of every five email marketing messages doubles as a mobile marketing message. Using email is better for mobile marketing than SMS because: It works on mobile devices other than phones. Emails are free for the consumer, whereas texting may incur a charge. Emails have far more space for content than text messages, allowing for better marketing pieces.
It’s easy to customize and integrate into other marketing tactics
The versatility of email marketing is another reason marketers should keep the tactic in their marketing toolbox. Depending on the depth of the email database and the skill of the crafter, email marketing messages can range from simple to very complex. Emails can be personalized to include the name of the user and even more. A small study of 139 marketers from Retention Science found that websites use several kinds of personalization tactics that can easily be applied to email. Nearly half of US online retailers used personalized product recommendations (44.9%), about a third added the customer’s name and/or a unique welcome message (31.5%), and a quarter of the respondents reported adding shopping cart reminders (27.6%) to cover all of their personalization bases. Email marketing can also be utilized with just about any other marketing tactic, which makes email an important part of any integrated marketing campaign. – via Inc.com
